The Farmhouse Decks- Phase 1
Two years have almost passed since we've made moves over at the new farmhouse. Things have been put on hold until now- as we opened up our shoppe last year. I'm excited to share an exciting new project that's taking the plunge on starting the house projects! We're getting decks put on at the farmhouse this next upcoming week, yay!
We opted to start getting the decks on before projects inside take place so that we could start landscaping the areas around the house this spring. We also felt that it would be safer to have decks put on during all the inside renovations since all the sliding doors are pretty high off the ground level.
Here's a look at what we currently have going on- no decking, of course. This blog post features phase 1- which is the back porch before photos and design plans. Phase 2 will show the progress of the bedroom and front porches. So to recap, there will be a total of 3 porches being installed, yay!
THE VISION:
The back porch is where we will be spending a large majority of our time so we designed an 18' deck to span off of the living room. This will hold a large farmhouse table for outdoor meals/gatherings. One set of stairs will descend to meet a courtyard that is shared between my in-laws and us. The opposite set of stairs will descend down to the flower/vegetable garden. We will have large 6x6" posts on each side of the stair entries that will serve as a climbing rose trellis. I envision tall cypress trees, handfuls of boxwood bushes, whites florals and sage colored greens to complete my European garden dreams.

DESIGN PLAN:
The contractors will be working on the structures over the next week and I'm so excited to see this project come to life! I'll be sharing more sources as we get closer to finishing out the porches, one by one! Stay tuned for the Phase 2 design plans!
Hugs, Alyssa
