Our Peter Rabbit Inspired Baby Shower

This past weekend we had the opportunity of showering baby Eliot with close family and friends. I was extra excited because we invited them over to our new farmhouse doubling as a "house warming" party. For many years, I've dreamt of an outside garden Peter Rabbit theme baby shower. While we kept everything inside, it was still a gorgeous sunny day to celebrate baby boy in a sun soaked home.

I knew I wanted to keep the shower pretty simple and minimal. We set up the brunch on our long 10' island and had everyone gather in our dining/living room. I loved that our family and friends could see baby boy's nursery for the first time while visiting, too.

We had a handful of glass votives (tall and short) to hold fresh white hydrangeas, carrots with their green tops and a bunch of fresh parsley that looked like the perfect nibble for the bunny. Simple white candles added some ambiance besides the florals.

On the island, we had a baked egg casserole, baked oatmeal with fresh fruit/yogurt, muffins and mini cinnamon rolls. I used an old wooden crate to add height which felt like it was out of Mr. McGregor's garden and emerald green demijohns to pull in the bright green hydrangea petals. The white petals of the hydrangeas felt pure and fresh for the new season ahead. I found these Peter Rabbit cupcake picks on Amazon which we stuck down into the muffins and cinnamon rolls.

We kept the shower games to zero and just enjoyed each others company. I loved seeing all my family and close friends in one spot. We received a lot of special gifts which was extremely helpful in preparation for baby boy on the way.

Time is once again proving to move very fast as this week we approach the 34 week mark. Baby boy's kicks are stronger than ever and feeling his little feet and butt in my belly are my favorite. I still feel pretty great with the expected back aches and occasional tiredness. I'm very thankful for this past weekend and those who were able to come celebrate his new life with us.

I was able to get all his new clothes washed up and tucked in his wardrobe. Very, very soon we will have our baby boy in our arms.

Hugs, Alyssa
