Our Master Vanity From A Wardrobe

One of the biggest questions I get is how to turn a wardrobe into a working vanity. Well lads, it's quite simple and I wanted to show the progress of our master bathroom. Catch the full YouTube tutorial below on how to convert a wardrobe to a vanity.

There are several reasons I love using wardrobes as a vanity- one being the unique design that some wardrobes have. They're unexpected and fun to add to a bathroom. I found this wardrobe set several years ago through Facebook Marketplace. I fell in love with the detailing and length of the wardrobe (allowing for a double sink). When our home was still  in framing, I immediately painted the wardrobe a gorgeous french blue (details can be found here) and that's how it sat until a few weeks ago.

Once the bathroom was drywalled, I envisioned bead board covering half the walls for a classic and old world feel. I love that the bead board adds vertical visual interest.

Painting the walls and trim in Sherwin Williams, "Origami White" was the perfect soft, creamy white for the bathroom. While I loved the french blue on the vanity, I wanted something a bit warmer and neutral for the master bathroom. After staring at the french blue for over a year and seeing the vanity in the completed room- I knew in my gut the vanity needed a fresh coat of paint.

I went with our trim color that we have almost everywhere in the farmhouse- Sherwin Williams, "Into The Gloaming". I love the combination of this creamy white and faint greige color.

Once the vanity was painted, I went back with a dark stain (Minwax, "Dark Walnut") to pop the details in the drawer grooves (wiping away any extra stain). Adding some "Antique Gold" Rub'nBuff on the corner edges added a little bit of subtle glamour.

Having a floating sink basin was much easier to install than a under mount sink. I loved the combo of the vintage brass faucet and crisp white accent that feel fresh. We wanted to replace the vanity top with a quartz top but we have yet to find an affordable remnant piece to fit the style. To remedy this, we painted the wood top with an appliance epoxy to hold us over until we can stumble across the stone top.

Do you remember when I was contemplating our mirror situation, too? I'm so happy we went with these two antique mirrors that are the same size but slightly different in detailing. They offer a whimsical story.

Our master shower is on hold until our funds are saved back up. It's so great to having a working sink and toilet right off the master bedroom, however. I am absolutely smitten by the semi-finished bathroom and am thankful for the quick change that paint offers.
