Delphine's Atelier & Home Tour

On the second day of our tour with Tracey, French Larkspur- we had the opportunity to visit Delphine's incredibly beautiful home and workshop. Delphine spoke broken English but had a translator to help tell her story and explain her work inspiration. Delphine is an incredible seamstress that finds all her fabrics from flea markets around France and then pieces together coordinating linens (as they speak to her) to make different bags and soft goods.
First, let's tour her work area... the most beautifully curated workshop of French linens, buttons, trims... the unintentional vignettes in her workshop- WOW! Amazing. Every corner was tucked with something beautiful and done effortlessly. I appreciated her piles of fabrics that were color coordinated and layered on the shelves so neatly.

Next to her workshop, Delphine set up a darling little shop to display all her finished works and vintage finds. I loved the way she again color coordinated each vignette to emphasize each work of art. The mix of old vintage and "new" fabric pieces paired so well together. I bought some of her antique apothecary bottles and a white/red floral cosmetic bag.
Golly, if only I had a container to load all these beautiful finds into! See that beautiful ironstone soup tureen!? My only regretful purchase I didn't make!!

The rest of her home was just as perfect. Every corner I turned, my mouth gaped open. My eyes about fell outta my head when I saw her black trunk with the French wording on the front as her night stand! WOW!

The vignettes around the rest of her home were so perfectly French! Stylish and effortless. I loved her collection of vintage in her entryway which looked like little odds and ends that she may have been drawn to while out fleain'. I loved her plaster medallion stashed next to some rolled vintage paper goods. While the medallion is neutral, the piece still adds depth and interest to the shelves.

Her living room and kitchen felt warm and inviting. I loved that she displayed so many beautiful collections of old things- from the corks in the kitchen jar to the seashells in the basket on the living room console. Delphine was so kind to have some refreshments waiting for us down in the kitchen, too!

Now, I saved the best for the last... her bathroom. Tracey gave us full warning that we MUST use her bathroom to see how beautiful it was! And she didn't lie! The Savon de Marseille blocks, the old pie safe, the simple pine door... the stack of beautiful linens... the soaps under the cloche! WOW, WOW, WOW!

And did you notice the vintage screen door behind the stash of linens?! All of us ladies came out of the wash room looking like we saw a celebrity or something in there!

The whole visit was enchanting and a favorite by many of the ladies. Delphine was so incredibly kind opening her home to us and sharing her art with us. It's funny because it didn't matter that we couldn't speak the same language. We all had a mutual love and admiration for creating (whether that be with fabrics, photographs, florals, design, etc.) that it seemed we bonded through art.

I love that Tracey gave us the opporuntity to meet Delphine and witness her art in person. I know that myself and the other ladies (both past and present) have taken that experience to heart.

If you wish to grab one of Delphine's works, she does offer some of her pieces online: Delphine's Shoppe

If you never make it to France, I hope you enjoyed this little tour of Delphine's atelier and home! I'll just be over here still gushing!
Hugs, Alyssa
